Adopt the Slender-tailed Meerkat

Thank you for supporting Perth Zoo with a symbolic adoption of the Slender-tailed Meerkat, a small mongoose from southern Africa.

The main predators of this small omnivorous mammal are jackals, snakes and raptors, such as hawks and eagles. Perth Zoo has a breeding group of meerkats in the African Savannah where the meerkats’ typical natural behaviours can be observed.

Fun Fact: Meerkats make at least 10 different vocalisations. These include a threatening growl and an alarm bark. As they search for food, they utter a ‘vurruk-vurruk’ sound. Read more about the Slender-tailed Meerkat here
