Thank you for supporting Perth Zoo with a symbolic adoption of the Ring-tailed Lemur, a wet-nosed primate and one of five lemur families.
This endangered mammal from south and south-west Madagascar is threatened by habitat loss and poaching for the illegal pet trade. The Ring-tailed Lemur’s tail is very distinctive with black and white rings all along its length, hence the name ‘ring-tailed’. Its tail is used for visual and scent communication.
Fun Fact: Ring-tailed Lemurs like to sunbathe. They sit in an upright position with their hands on their knees and face the sun. Read more about Ring-tailed Lemurs here
